Yorvkille police say they responded to two dog attacks over the weekend and one from last week. On Saturday police were called to the 4500 block Garritano Street for a report that a brown pit bull terrier had attacked another dog that was being walked by its owner in the area. The owner of the dog who was attacked, and two owners of the pit bull, were able to free the dog from the pit bull's mouth. The owners of the pit bull have surrendered the dog. They were ticketed for not having the dog on a leash.
Police say a second attack happened in 9000 block of Galena Road on Sunday. Police said a pit bull broke off a chain and attacked a woman in her sixties. The woman was bitten in the cheek, ear, and buttocks according to police. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The owner of the dog was ticketed.
Last week, Yorkville police were called to the 900 block of Western Lane for a report of a dog bite. A man and woman had injuries on their hands and arms from two pit bulls the family owned. Officers were able to contain the two dogs. The man and woman were taken to a hospital for treatment.
