The City of Sandwich and Village of Somonauk have a tentative agreement to repair the intersection of County Line Rd. and the Sheridan Blacktop, which is E.2750th Rd.

The intersection has been an issue for Lake Holiday residents for years.

At the July 19 Committee of the Whole meeting, Sandwich City Engineer/Public Works Director Tom Horak explained that the resurfacing project will start 200' east of Gletty Rd, then proceed west on County Line Rd. through the intersection with the Sheridan Blacktop.

Sandwich is applying to the Illinois Dept. of Transportation for use of Motor Fuel Tax funds.  Sandwich also will do road and sidewalk work on Center St. at Fairwind Blvd.

Sandwich City Engineer/Public Works Director Tom Horak explained the projects to the council on Monday.

The cost of the two projects is estimated at $300,000.

In other business, Horak told Sandwich aldermen that the Planning Commission approved a zoning change from General Business Zoning to Heavy Industrial Zoning for the former Gjovik Ford car dealership.

The Planning Commission's vote was seven to nothing in favor of the change.

The Sandwich City Council will consider the zoning change at its July 26 meeting.

Horak also told the Sandwich aldermen on Monday that there will be no brush pickup in July.
