At the June 7 Committee of the Whole meeting the Sandwich City Council honored city Water Superintendent Brian Voelkel for 20 years of service.

Sandwich Mayor Todd Latham presented a plaque to Voelkel and his wife Julie.

Brian Voelkel is a 1981 graduate of Sandwich H.S., and he lives in the house where he was raised.

Voelkel spoke about working in the City of Sandwich Water Department.

The Kendall County Board is seriously addressing future water access, and Voelkel was asked about the situation in Sandwich.

This is Voelkel's fifth year as Water Superintendent.  He has also worked for 35 years as a firefighter.
