One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Route 6 near North Tabler Road around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 18th.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office said a vehicle operated by Devin Brandt was turning left out of Lyondell Basell onto to Route 6 when he was struck by a motorcycle driven by Kyle Olliges of Kentucky.

Police officials say Olliges was heading eastbound on Route 6 and passing a vehicle in a no passing zone just before he struck Brandt’s front end. Olliges, who was not wearing a helmet, told an officer at Morris Hospital that he does not remember what happened.

The Sheriff’s Office said Olliges suffered head injuries, facial fractures, cuts, and a torn aorta.

Olliges was then flown by helicopter to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn due to the extent and seriousness of his injuries. He was cited for disobeying a no passing zone.
