Doris Eleanor Ropp, age 96, a longtime resident of Newark, IL passed away peacefully at her home at Heritage Woods of Yorkville, IL where she has resided for the last ten years.
 
She was born July 4, 1925, in LaSalle County to the late Arthur and Violet nee Johnson Olson. She married Frank Ropp in November of 1946. Doris retired from the Newark Post Office where she worked for eighteen years. She was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church. Doris loved to bowl she was a member on many teams through the years, many stock car races were attended at Mazon, Sycamore and Morris, was a fan of the Cubs, Bulls and NASCAR. Some of Doris’s greatest joy was spending time with family watching her children and grandchildren play softball, basketball and attend many dance recitals.
 
She is survived by her children Charlene (Bud) Leedy of Yorkville, IL, Denny (Bonny) Ropp of Somonauk, IL, Darrell (Connie) Ropp of Minonk, IL; seven grandchildren Staci (Quintin) Wissmiller of Yorkville, IL, Melissa (Eric) Thorson, of Plano, IL, Rebecca Ropp of Sandwich, IL, Sean (Ashley) Ropp of Norfolk, VA, Neil (Jessica) Ropp of Gridley, IL, Nicole (Nate) Hayner of Pontiac, IL, Nathan of Minonk, IL; ten great grandchildren Braxon, Reagan and Evan Wissmiller of Yorkville, IL, Wyatt and Mayson Thorson of Plano, IL, Jaedon Thompson of Sandwich, IL, Isabelle, Connor and Ethan Ropp of Norfolk, VA, Micah Ropp of Gridley, IL; a brother Wayne (Grace) Olson of Oswego, IL, sister Joann Riva of Montgomery, IL also several nieces and nephews she enjoyed very much.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Ropp on December 30, 1982, infant grandson Shawn Ropp and brother-in-law Dominic Riva.
Visitation will take place on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Newark Lutheran Church,101 East Liberty St, Newark, IL. Interment will follow at Elerding Cemetery in Sheridan, IL.
Memorials may be directed to either Fern Dell Museum, 9 E. Front St, Newark, IL 60541, or Newark Fire Protection District, 101 E. Main St., Newark, IL 60541.
