Gary Lee Mohn, age 80, of Springfield, MO, formerly of Aurora, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. He was born on October 13, 1940 in Peoria, IL the son of Chester and Elizabeth (Balsinger) Mohn.

Mr. Mohn served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. Gary enjoyed woodworking, golf, and outdoor activities. He was the captain of the boat for years of fun at the lake. Gary also enjoyed making peanut brittle. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Kyle (Samantha) Mohn of Leesville, SC, Chad Mohn (Michelle) of Bloomington, IL, and Stephanie (Matt) Hillwick of Billings, MO; his grandchildren, Lauren Mohn, Lindsay Mohn, Zach (Jai) Mohn, Alayna Mohn, Natalie Mohn, Chase (Jada) Hillwick, Coleton (Jordyn) Hillwick, and Caden Hillwick; his three great-grandchildren and one on the way; his brothers, Jim (Rita) Mohn of Montgomery, IL and Ron Mohn of Kingston, TN; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Elizabeth Mohn; and his sister-in-law, Wanda Mohn.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL. Interment will be private.

Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until the Hour of Service on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary’s name may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, www.apdaparkinson.org .
