Richard Riva, 85, of Earlville passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 23, 1937 in Spring Valley, IL

the son of Anton and Mary (Hunt) Riva. He was later adopted by Katherine Watts.

He married Dorothy Buffington on July 17, 1981. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville, Old English Game Bantam Club of America, Drainage District of Triumph. He served on the Ophir School Board. He farmed in the Earlville area for many years. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his children, Nico (JoLynn) Riva, Misty Underhill, Chase Riva, Deena Riva, Tony (Tracy) Riva, and Mark Riva; three grandchildren, Natalie, Miranda, and Isabella; two sisters, Sandy Darlases, Diane Baxter: one brother Charles Barter, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his adopted mother Katherine Watts, one sister, Maryann Brewer, two brothers, John Hunt and Peter Darlases.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville, IL, with Father Jeff Windy officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery Earlville, IL. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 28th until the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville, IL.
