The Sandwich boys and girls Cross Country teams are having a successful season thus far. Last week the boys and girls teams defeated both Rochelle and Newark in Sandwich’s lone home meet of the season. The teams also competed in the annual Seneca with the boys taking first place and the Sandwich girls netting the 3rd place spot.
In their home meet Steve Aguilar finished first for the Indian’s boys team in a time of 16:59 and Alana Stahl was first for the girls in a time of 21:28. Max Cryer finished second in the boys race in 18:03 and Claire Roberts was third in the girls race in a time of 22:13. Johnny Rizzuto was third in the boys race in 18:06 and Molly Roberts was 4th for the girls in 22:36.
At Seneca the Sandwich boys scored 37 points ahead of second place Seneca who had 52. Seneca won the girls race with a 31, Ottawa was second with 48 and Sandwich third with 51. Aguilar was third for Sandwich in the boys race in a time of 17:52.45. Stahl finished sixth in the girls race for Sandwich with a time of 23:32.
Amber Vroman from Seneca won the girls race in a time of 20:48 and Lucas Hoffman from Marquette of Ottawa won the boys race in a time of 17:05. Jacob Weissensel from Yorkville Christian finished fourteenth in a time of 19:04.82 in the boys race and Sydney Peterson was 12th in the girls race in a time of 24:56.97.
