The Sandwich Lady Indians girls basketball team moved to 6-1 on the season and improved in the Interstate 8 to 4-1 with a win on the road over LaSalle-Peru 49-35.
Head Coach Chris Johnson reported that "The girls came out on fire and aggressive tonight with five players scoring in the 1st quarter and three of them getting to the free throw line in the quarter. It was a great inside out game from the start. Claire Roberts got a 3 pointer right away, Josie and Claire Allen both scored down low or got fouled down low. We did have a size advantage and we used it when we could."
Josie Ness led the way in scoring for the Lady Indians with 19 and Claire Allen added 10 points. Claire Roberts had 7, Molly Roberts had 6 and Sophia Datoli netted 5 points. Coach Johnson pointed out that his guards, Molly, Sophia and Grace Donahue were driving hard and all got to the line as well.
The Lady Indians are at Kaneland on Wednesday night in what should be a very hard fought game as these two teams have developed into a great rivalry.
