The Serena Huskers baseball team was 0-4 to start the season, but now have won 3 straight all Little 10 Conference games. Serena swept Hiawatha and then defeated Hinckley-Big Rock 3-0 on Wednesday, Apr. 28.
In the series opener against Hiawatha on Monday, Apr. 26, Connor Holdiman went 5.1 innings to pick up the win striking out 10 and walking just 1. Serena won 9-4 behind the hitting of Tanner Faivre who tripled and drove in 2 runs. Ivan Stafford also had 2 big runs in this one.
The Huskers put up 17 runs in their second game against Hiawatha winning 17-7 in game that went 6 innings. Ivan Stafford again had a big day at the plate as he drove in 4 runs. Holdiman drove in 3 runs as he went 3-3 and also scored 3 times from his leadoff spot. Hudson Stafford was the winning pitcher and he also drove in 3 runs as he had double at the plate.
Wednesday night was a pitchers dual with Ivan Stafford going 5.2 innings with 10 strikeout and he allowed no runs on just 3 hits. Carson Baker came in a picked up the save as he recorded 3 more K's. Serena did walk 7 HBR Royals but got the 3-0 win. Leo Brennan had two big runs batted in to help secure the win.
H-BR got 3 hits all from Riley Hogan and Richard Hintzsche pitched a complete game and was the tough luck loser. He struck out 5 and allowed just 2 earned runs. Serena is 3-4, 3-0 and HBR is now 0-3,0-1.
