In a match played at Newark the Visiting Bobcats with the strong wind at their backs would jump out to an early 4-0 to set the tone for the day. You have to credit both teams for enduring this tough, tough weather in mid March in a match that normally would have been played in August.
Julio Salgado would get Somonauk on the board first with an assist from Lance Grandgeorge. Carter Andrews would make it 2-0 Somonauk on a goal assisted by Parker Wasson. Wasson and Grandgeorge would each add a first half goal to give the Bobcats a commanding lead of 4-0 at the half.
Andrews would make it 5-0 early in the second half. Brooke Kala would make a nice pass to Henry Mathre to get Newark-Seneca on board to make it 5-1. Grandgeorge would get his second goal of the match for the Bobcats and Carson Collet would score for Newark-Seneca to make the final 6-2.
It was the season opener on the season for both teams and Little 10 opener as well. Somonauk heads to Earlville on Monday while Newark-Seneca goes to Hinckley-Big Rock on Monday.
