The Yorkville Foxes baseball team on Monday, Apr. 6, rapped out 14 hits and scored 17 runs against West Aurora. On Tuesday, Apr. 7, the Foxes scored 5 more runs against the Blackhawks from West only to lose 6-5 in a thriller.
On Monday went ahead 14-0 and then held on for the 17-9 win. Leadoff hitter Cole Yearsley had a big day with a homer, triple and 3 rbi. Kyle Mack also went yard and drove in 2 runs with Ryan Shimp going 3-5 with a homer double and 2 runs batted in of his own. Owen Ross got the win for the Foxes as Beh Hixon, Gavin Dobbels and Ryan Harris also got in some work on the mound.
Tuesday night saw West take a lead with a run in the top of the 2nd on a Cole Werve rbi single. Kyle Mack blasted a solo homer to right in the bottom of the 2nd to tie things up. West got 2 in the 3rd inning with the big hit an rbi double by Matt Tarr.
Yorkville would take the lead in the bottom the 4th with 4 big runs with a key 2 run double from Connor Corrigan. West would get 2 in the 5th to tie things at 5-5. Alex Rangel would get a big double in the 6th to give West the lead for good as the Blackhawks evened the series.
The two teams have one more game in the series as Yorkville is now 7-2, 1-1 on the season. West Aurora 3-2,1-1.
